Office Halloween Party

We had a great time this year!  Lots of people got into the spirit of things.  Here’s some of the costumes and fun that went on:

My costume takes a little explanation.  We’re having a sales contest here based on the game Clue.  The HR manager, Janice, agreed to be the “victim” in the contest newsletters.  This included a shot of her body at the morgue with the feet and toe tag exposed.  Of course, they used clip art of a man’s feet.  She spent the next few weeks joking about how they weren’t hers, her were nice and dainty etc.

A few years ago, people in Sales dressed in costume based on the contest then.  I was thinking that there was no costume for this year’s contest…. and then my brain fired up: unless I came in as Janice’s body with the feet exposed.  I mentioned it to my buddy, Joe, and then to my boss, saying “I got a great idea for a costume, if I don’t mind getting fired!”  He loved the idea, but mentioned it’d have to be a guy’s feet.  Justine and I decided to be the doctors and asked Andy, whose shoes have been used by people sailing over from Cuba, to be Janice’s feet.  Only a couple people knew so it was a surprise.  And this is the result:

Note that the woman in the black suit dressed as Sarah Palin is actually Janice, whose body we were portraying.  And we won Best Group costume!

Here’s photos of us, including details I made for them such as creating a Discontinued Product screen under her name; hospital ID tags (with the name of high class shoe fashion designers as the doctors’ names); and my sinus x-rays.  Andy even had his wife paint his toenails!

Tonight, Becky and Sophia are coming over.  I’m going Trick and Treating with them in our neighborhood; I promised Sophia that the dogs would go with her (hence my avatar).  She asked if they would be in costume.  Well, John had bought glow-in-the-dark bracelets/necklaces for the Christmas Lights tour this December, and Becky had bought the dogs lighted tags a few years ago.  So I said I’d put necklaces around the dogs’ necks and their light up tags; I joked that they were going as Disney’s Electric Light Parade and then, since she didn’t get that, I said they were Spectromagic (the newer parade of lights; Becky actually performed in Spectromagic years ago).

Becky just called me to say she picked up Sophia at Pre-K.  Sophie’s teacher said, “I got to ask you this.  She keeps saying she’s going out with Auntie Erin and that the dogs are going to be Spectromagic.  What is that about?”  Becky cracked up!  Neither of us could believe that Sophia was actually talking about it at school!  But as they were getting in the car, Sophia yelled out to some little friend, “I’m trick and treating with Auntie Erin!  And the dogs are dressed like Spectromagic!”

I don’t know who will have more fun tonight: Sophia, me…. or the dogs, in the middle of all the people and excitement.
